We teach the basics well. Over the years our horse riding basics; heels down, independent seat, soft hands, has given many young riders the tools they needed to become great competitive riders. As well as being the foundations for the young riders to go on as adults and continue their career in equestrian or animal related industries. Former students are currently working in trick training, vet science, equine science, stock work.
We consider our riding lessons to be learning a life skill, where you will learn not just how to ride but also safe horsemanship skills on the ground and how to meet all the needs of a horse should you be lucky enough to own one in the future.
Children’s lessons are $55 for 1.5 hour group lesson, with one hour on horseback and the rest of the time doing horsemanship on the ground, including tacking up, safety around horses, horse health and welfare needs. Children need to be 10 years old for group lessons, this is to ensure they have the capacity to follow instruction in a group setting, for younger riders we have lead line lessons.
Lead Line Lessons
For younger children we have lead line lessons 11.15 am and 12.30 pm on Saturdays, during this 45 minute class we take the riders for a lead on horseback, as well as teaching some on the ground horsemanship skills with the children. We work towards getting the riders off the lead and into the 2 hour classes. Parents are encouraged to be involved assisiting with the riding and horsemanship activities. $25, booking essential to ensure we have enough horses for riders.
