Capricorn Equestrian Centre operates at Mount Wheeler the business was formerly known as Capricorn Coast Trail Rides, which we operated out of the Oaks Road house back paddock, we took on the business in 2001 and started our break in 2012, the break has been a little longer than we would have liked but we have been building facilities with amazing and exciting results.
Glen Bridgeman grew up on horseback, horses are in his blood and his family are locally well renown for being horse people. Pony club, stock work and working as a horse trainer, was his start, now he’s been a riding instructor since 2001, giving 110% to the students who share his passion for horses.
Madeline Chery looks after the people and the business side, having learnt to ride since owning the business, with hours and hours in the saddle she is also now passionate about horses. Riding for fun and Fitness on Fridays is her favourite day, where like-minded adults are able to enjoy their horses with no pressure, in a calming and relaxing atmosphere.
Our children are also a part of our team, our daughter is mad about horses, her brother not so much but he will still occasionally come along on the trail.
Michelle O’Sullivan is our new instructor in training, Michelle has been helping out for a couple of years now and we are just in the process of making it official.
Peter Bridgeman comes and gives us hand occasionally, he has been a pony club instructor forever, he loves to teach kids to ride as well as always learning new skills for himself.
Would you like to join the team? Contact Madeline today with your resume, we are always interested to meet local potential riding instructors and support staff. Instructors must hold some kind of relevant riding instruction qualification, a current first aid certificate and working with children blue card. We are happy to assist you in becoming qualified with Horse Safety Australia, these qualifications are recognised throughout Australia and will enable you to purchase your own insurance and provide lessons as a freelance instructor, so whether you chose to work for us or independently you’ll be a qualified instructor. The courses cost around $1500, and provide you with Cert III or Cert IV in Outdoor recreation equestrian related studies.
